Niigata Research Institute of Nursing was also established. |

| Nov. | The Professorial Board of Niigata College of Nursing elected Professor Takashi Watanabe as the president. |
| 2009 Apr. | In an inauguration ceremony, the Governor of Niigata Prefecture confirmed Professor Takashi Watanabe as the second President of Niigata College of Nursing. |
| 2013 Apr. | Niigata College of Nursing became a corporate entity under law as a Public University Corporation governed by a Board. Professor Takashi Watanabe was confirmed as the Chairman of the Board. |
